Liz Scott, DVM
Dr. Liz Scott grew up in Western, Washington. It was while working on a horse ranch that Dr. Scott developed a taste for hard work and an admiration for horses that has guided the direction of her life. Dr. Scott attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelors of Science degree in biology and chemistry. She then attended veterinary school at Washington State University where she researched the metabolic and muscle changes which occur during long distance training in endurance horses. Dr. Scott graduated from WSU in 1984 with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Her early work history includes one year positions in Salmon, Idaho and in Sicily, Italy. She worked for 10 years at the Intermountain Animal Hospital where she established her reputation in breeding and camelid care. In 1997, she made the decision to become a part of Idaho Equine Hospital and in 2002 joined Dr. Maupin and Dr. Shoemaker in the ownership of the hospital. Her strong work ethic and caring disposition has made her a vital part of the organization, responsible for reproduction and internal medicine. Dr. Scott is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Scott is a world traveler and a national Ride and Tie champion (a vigorous sport which utilizing two humans and a horse, combines trail running and endurance riding, over a 25-60 mile cross-country course). Dr. Scott contributes to her local community in Ironside, Oregon as a volunteer firefighter. She and her husband own a cattle ranch in Ironside and enjoy hiking, fishing, running and riding.
