Danny Borders, DVM

Dr. Danny Borders started life as a preacher's son in the foothills of North Carolina. His affiliation with horses began with a small herd of Shetland ponies that his family owned.  It continued at a local race-training barn, where as a young man Dr. Borders trained Thoroughbreds that then ran at various tracks on the East coast and in Kentucky.  Showcasing his love of adventure, Dr. Borders had an illustrious career riding bareback horses on the local rodeo circuit.

Dr. Borders attended both Wake Forest and North Carolina State Universities receiving his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State's Veterinary College in 1991. He then practiced veterinary medicine in both Wisconsin and Texas prior to moving to Idaho.  He settled in Jerome, where he owned Magic Valley Equine Service for six years.  In the spring of 2003 Dr. Borders joined the ranks of Idaho Equine Hospital.  At Idaho Equine, his love of horses and people, have combined to help develop the Hospital’s general practice and ambulatory department.  Dr. Border’s current duties vary widely, from medicine and out-patient surgery to ambulatory (farm call) services. Free time for Dr. Borders is spent raising, training and chasing English Pointer-bird dogs through the hills and canyons of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
